Who I Am

I'm Bruno Matavelli, an AWS Certified Solutions Architect with 17+ years of experience designing, building, and scaling enterprise and SaaS systems. I specialize in cloud architecture, full-stack development, and transforming legacy systems into modern, reliable cloud-native solutions.

What I Do

Most of my career has been spent doing the work that comes after the prototype: designing and building systems that handle real users, real data, and real consequences when they fail. I've led architecture and modernization initiatives across some challenging domains:

• Financial Services: Built and maintained customer-facing trading and investment platforms at Itaú Unibanco and Bradesco, handling millions of transactions and sensitive financial data
• Enterprise Platforms: Designed scalable e-learning and integration systems at KPMG supporting global teams
• SaaS at Scale: Led engineering at CiiRUS, architecting cloud-native solutions for a platform supporting 400+ property management companies and 30,000+ vacation rental properties

That experience taught me something crucial: understanding where production systems actually break, and how to fix them without stopping everything else.

My Expertise

Cloud & Architecture: I design and build on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFront, RDS, DynamoDB, ElastiCache) with a focus on serverless architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and high-availability systems.

Backend Engineering: Deep expertise in C#, .NET, Node.js, and building robust REST APIs, microservices, and integrations at scale. I've designed high-volume data synchronization systems processing millions of API requests.

Frontend Development: Experienced with Angular and React, TypeScript, and modern web standards. I led the migration of legacy ASP.NET applications to modern Angular frontends, significantly improving security and developer productivity.

Real-World Impact: I've built monitoring platforms that reduced customer-reported incidents by 60%, implemented Redis/ElastiCache strategies to optimize high-volume workloads, and developed AI-powered content generation tools now used in production.

The Production Gap

In 2026, the fastest path from idea to working product runs through AI coding tools. That's real, and it's genuinely useful. But "working" and "production-ready" are still very different things.

AI tools don't think about what happens when usage grows 10x, when someone tries to break in, when your hosting bill arrives, or when the external service you depend on goes down at 3 AM. A big part of my work and writing is focused on understanding and closing those production gaps—the difference between a prototype and a system you can operate safely for years.

My Approach

I'm practical and engineering-first. I focus on clear tradeoffs, measurable outcomes, and systems that can be understood and operated by teams over the long term. I believe in SOLID principles, thoughtful design patterns, and code that's maintainable by the next person who reads it.

I also mentor developers and provide technical leadership. Good software comes from good teams, and I've consistently worked to build engineering cultures focused on quality, collaboration, and continuous learning.
